Key Events in Ukraine

  • President Poroshenko gave an interview to three TV channels, in which stated that decentralization is supported by two thirds of the population. He is convinced that the Parliament can find 300 votes for amending the Constitution. According to him, Ukraine for the first time is complying with the IMF program. The President said that during the time after the signing of the  Minsk agreements almost 3 thousand prisoners were freed  and the agreement allowed to save the lives of the Ukrainians. He considers the truce a start of the Minsk Agreement implementation, which must be implementated in full.
  • Kharkov court upheld the arrest of the "Slobozhanshchyna" battalion commander, accused of organizing the attempted assassination of Interior Minister Avakov.
  • Prime Minister Yatsenyuk said that the Government planned sufficient amount of funds for the payment of subsidies for housing and plans to increase them next year. He said that the Government handed over to the Parliament changes to the budget for 2015, providing for an increase of social standards.
  • Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said that the new police will completely replace the old police by 7 November.

Ukraine at War

  • The truce in the Donbass is periodically disrupted by the militants who use small arms, rocket-propelled grenades, mortars and snipe the positions of the Ukrainian army. One soldier was wounded near Maryinka .
  • President Poroshenko announced the complete demobilization of the military who participated in the fighting during the last  year.
  • According to the Defense Minister Poltorak, by the end of the year the Armed forces will get 400 tanks and other upgraded armored vehicles.

Ukraine and the World

  • Former Swedish Foreign Minister Bildt presented the scheme of two occupational army corpses in the Donbass controlled by Russia.
  • The oldest Israeli politician, former Israeli President Peres in his speech at the YES forum  urged Ukrainians to dream big, to use scientific achievements and rely on patriotism.
  • Protests in Moldova continued. The rally in the center of Chisinau adopted a resolution to start a general strike and form a government of national trust.

Russian Ambassador to Sweden was called to give explanations about the threats voiced regarding the possible entry of the country into the Alliance.
