  • Prime Minister Yatsenyuk and Finance Minister Yaresko during the meeting with the US Secretary of the Treasury Lew discussed the financial support to Ukraine in the form of additional loan guarantees in the amount of  $ 1 billion.

Kyiv

  • Near Kyiv on BRSM oil delivery terminal, owned by the former Minister of Fuel and Energy Stavisky, a large-scale fire rages for the second day, several tanks with gasoline and oil exploded. According to official report, four firefighters died, 12 people were injured and taken to hospital with burns of varying severity, however witnesses reported more casualties. The air pollution in the southern parts of the capital exceeded the maximum allowable limits by six times. There are military base and airfield located in the immediate vicinity of the fire. According to the Interior Minister, the fire was localized, but the burning of oil products continues. In Kyiv and the region the highest level of fire danger was announced.

Ukraine at War

  • Intense fighting in the Donbass continued near Donetsk and Shyrokine. Militants shelled  the outskirts of Artemivsk. As a result of clashes between the militant groups the residential areas and infrastructure in Donetsk were damaged. Russian-terrorist forces perform active reconnaisance using UAVs, the activity of the subversive groups sharply increased. At night, attacks and shellings of the Ukrainian Army positions intensified in the region of Luhansk. Two checkpoints of sector "C" at  Volnovakha and Kurakhovo are still closed because of the continuous militants shellings.

Ukraine and the World


  • "Gazprom" announced the natural gas prices for Ukraine for the III and IV quarters without additional discounts that will be discussed separately. In case of absence of discounts, it is much cheaper for Ukraine to buy natural gas from Europe using reverse scheme, and this will sharply reduce the income of the Russian monopoly.
  • Direct investments to Russia fell to the lowest level in its history, the financial sector, the energy sources production and the construction suffered the most. The experts note that the outflow of investments happened mainly due to the withdrawal of money from the economy by the  offshore companies with Russian capital.
  • The UN says that humanitarian aid is required for almost 5 million Ukrainians, and now more than 3 million Ukrainians are receiving humanitarian aid through the UN humanitarian plan. At the monent the fund for this assistance in the amount of $ 316 million has only a quarter of this amount. The income of Ukrainians fell to the level of the poorest African countries, more than 80% of the population exist below the poverty level.
  • IMF Deputy Director Lipton gave a positive evaluation to the activities of the Ukrainian government in carrying out the reforms and stressed that in his opinion, the main directions of economic policy of Ukraine should be stabilization of the national currency, renewal of economic growth and negotiations on the restructuring of state debt .
