Key Events of Ukraine
- A former member of the Party of Regions, one of the organizers of "Anti-Maidan" movement, Kalashnikov was shot in Kiev. It is possible that the cause for murder could be information about the persons who ordered repressions against Maidan activists.
- Pechersk court arrested the former Health Minister of Azarov’s government Bogatyreva in absentia. She is accused of embezzling of large budget funds.
- General Prosecutor's Office announced that Interpol refused to put former Interior Minister Zakharchenko on the international wanted list, despite the suspicions against him. After June 6 sanctions can be lifted for a number of former President Yanukovych regime officials if they are not brought under suspicion.
- A subsidiary of the AtlasJet Turkish low-cost company accepted the proposal of the Ministry of Infrastructure and will start air travel from Lviv Airport early summer.
- Privatbank was issued another stabilization loan of USD1.22 bln to fulfill its obligations to individual depositors. As loan collateral Privatbank offered aircrafts.
- EU finally approved a new macro-financial assistance program for Ukraine in the amount of €1.8 bln.
- The NBU expects a tranche of $2.5 bln from the IMF in June in frames of the Extended Credit Program.
- The official rate of hryvnia against major currencies rose sharply: 21.78 UAH/USD (-1.15 UAH), 23.04 UAH/EUR (-1,18 UAH), 4.31 UAH/10 RUR (-0,10 UAH).
Ukraine at War
- Military actions do not stop along all the demarcation line in the Donbass. According to official information, during the fights one Ukrainian soldier was killed, two soldiers were wounded. As a result of attacks two inhabitants of Stanitsa Luganska suffered.
OSCE observers recorded more than 700 mine and shell explosions in the surroundings of the Donetsk airport.
Ukrainian intelligence reports on intensive militants preparations to attack. Russia keeps deploying new mechanized formations on the border in Belgorod, Voronezh and Rostov regions, as well as continuing to transfer to Donbass heavy machinery, ammunition and contractors through the uncontrolled by Ukraine part of the border. - OSCE officially denies the facts of passing by the staff the information on Ukrainian units location to the militants. The US Department of State claims that it does not have any data on the rendering of the intelligence information by the OSCE staff.
- Another Russian "convoy" invaded Ukraine. Judging from the exhibits at Moscow "exhibition", "convoys" move equipment and material evidence, including evidence from flight MH-17 airliner crash site out from Ukraine. Ukraine proposes to organize the delivery of humanitarian aid from Russia by rail which will involve customs checks at the official crossing points.

- German Foreign Minister Steinmeier stated that the "Big Seven" countries are not interested in Russian Federation’s isolation, however, the conditions of its return to the big policy are fulfillment of the Minsk Agreement and resolution of the Ukrainian crisis.
- Russian deputies tried to persuade Ukrainian pilot Savchenko, captured by militants in Lugansk region and illegally detained in a Moscow prison, to admit guilt in exchange for pardon.
- Former NATO Secretary General Rasmussen said that Russia is pursuing a "hybrid war" against Europe and trying to destabilize the situation from inside.
- US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton calls for increased military and economic support to Ukraine.
The Trends
- EU officials have concluded that most of the evidence in the Maidan shooting case was deliberately lost. Prospects for the investigation of cases against the repression organizers are disappointing. Experts believe that the Ukrainian law enforcement and governmental officials deliberately destroy criminal cases against the former President Yanukovych regime, because they are involved in them themselves and do not want to disclose information about the real events of the winter 2013-2014.
