LPR and DPR terrorists are not going to adhere to the cease-fire memorandum, signed in Minsk, using withdrawal of Ukrainian troops to seize territory. Peace marches against Russian aggression in Eastern Ukraine took place in many countries. President Poroshenko gave an interview  to Ukrainian TV joutnalists.

Ukraine
  • President Poroshenko gave an interview to major Ukrainian TV journalists, where he presented his vision of political process in Ukraine, assessed his achievements on international arena, as well as disclosed the perspectives of Donbass. In his opinion, there is no military solution of the problem in eastern Ukraine. Deep defence fortifications are being built around the territory controlled by terrorists. He also admitted that he has no candidates for replacing current commanders at key positions in military and security agencies.
  • Ukraine development party, created by former members of the party of regions, declined to participate in the parliamentary elections. At the same time the “Opposition block”, which unifies different business branches of the party of regions, has submitted candidate lists to the Central Elections Committee incuding ex-ministers and fellows of Yanukovych, such as Vilkul, Korolevs’ka, Boyko, Bakhteeva and Leader of Ukrainian Jewish Congress Rabinovych.
  • New governor of Luhans’k region Moskal said that State Regional Administration will be based in Severodonetsk.

Kyiv
  • As informed by the press service of the Kyiv mayor Klitchko, Kyiv metro  transportation fees will be increased in the nearest future as resources for salaries, repairs and infrastructure development are scarce.

War in Ukraine
  • As Ukrainian troops withdraw according to the Minsk memorandum, LPR and DPR militants immediately seize respective territories.
  • Exchange of war prisoners is ongoing. 28 persons have been exchanged during the day.
  • Shelling of Ukrainian positions and cities with artillery and multiple missile launchers is ongoing near Yenakievo, Gorlivka, Makyivka, Yasinyvata, Mariupol, as well as near towns in Liuhans’k region. Two Ukrainian military have been killed during the day. Militants continue to attack Donetsk International Airport with support of tanks and heavy armored vehicles. After dark, the airport has been once again shelled with howitzers, mortars and multiple rocket launchers “Grad”.
  • Trucks of the “third humanitarian convoy” have returned to Russia. The content of the outgoing cargo is unknown to Ukrainian side.

International
  • Peace marches against Russian aggression and invasion of Ukraine took place in many countries. 50 thousands of participants took part in the manifestation in Moscow. They chanted “Putin – thief”, “Russia is no enemy to Ukraine” and “Putin - Huilo”, and police didn’t intervene. Authorities prevented meetings in several regions of Russia. Around 10 activists have been arrested in St. Petersburg. Similar actions took place in various cities of Europe, Turkey, USA and Canada. Marches as well took place in Ukraine but were not very crowded as Ukrainians do perceive territorial integrity and sovereignity as more important than peace at any price.
  • Head of the Russian Presidential Administration Ivanov warned Ukraine on negative consequences should the wall on Ukrainian-Russian border be built.

Trends

  • Military units based in towns will be in advantageous position in Donbass during the coming fall-winter season. Accordingly, retreat of Ukrainian army from cities and towns will complicate further combat operations at the end.
  • Experts recognize good preparation and complete harmlessness  of “Peace March” manifestations to Russian authorities, as well as a record low numbers of detained participants. That could mean that the event happened under full control of Russian authorities.
