The cease-fire in Donbass is a cover for Russia to concentrate forces and prepare for aggression escalation. Ukrainian political establishment continue preparations for the early elections.Ukraine
- Journalists Nayem and Leshenko have been included into electoral lists of Poroshenko Block. An agreement on joint candidates list haven’t been reached with the Prime Minister Yatsenyuk and his party «Narodny Front» However, Yatsenyuk announced that coalition agreement should be signed before the elections.
- National Bank provided re-financing of 2 bln. UAH to two systemic banks due to the outflow of deposits. As per assessment of the NBU Head Gontareva, 2014 inflation could reach 19%, GDP decline - 9-10%, but there are no reasons for declaring a default.
Kyiv
- Heating season in Kyiv could possibly start later and finish earlier in order to decrease consumption of natural gas.
War in Ukraine
- One of the gang leaders of DPR terrorists Litvinov claimed that during negotiations in Minsk, representatives of terrorists “republics” participated as observers and weren’t participants of the trilateral negotiation process and accordingly they bear no responsibilities for the compliance with the cease-fire regimen.
- In a telephone conversation between the OSCE Head and President Poroshenko, they agreed to increase the numbers of the monitoring mission in Ukraine, as well as on possibility to use drones to control the compliance with the truce.
- Militants and regular Russian troops continue to shell strongholds of Ukrainian army. Attacks on Donets’k airport and Panteleymonivka have been repelled. Terrorists have suffered losses in manpower and equipment. 6 Ukrainian military have been killed since the truce introduction.
- Second Russian “humanitarian convoy”, which contains unknown to the Ukrainian side and international organizations cargo, has left Ukrainian territory whithin 24 hours of entry. Available photos certify that it delivered military vehicles and ammunition.
- 2,000 civilians have been killed since terrorists gained control over Luhans’k. Militants continue to shell residential areas of Donetsk and other towns with artillery, mortars and multiple rocket launchers “Grad”.
- The NBU Head Gontareva has announced that Russia is financing terrorists in Donbass with cash hryvnyas removed from use in Crimea.
International
- Elections to local and regional authorities will be held in Russia, including the annexed Crimea, on 14th of September.
- Pope Francis, during his speech dedicated to the anniversary of the First World War, urged to stop military conflicts that could lead to the Third World War.
Trends
- Events in Donbass, combined with the coming closing of the ferry to Crimea in middle of October, provide solid ground to assume renewal of the active phase of combat actions in the nearest future. In the meantime under the cover of «humanitarian convoys», Russian troops deliver reinforcement, ammunition and armored vehicles to Donbass, regroup forces and perform reconnaissance in force in various areas.
