Ukraine
- During telephone conversation with The President of the European Council Mr. Herman Van Rompuy, President of Ukraine Mr. Poroshenko demanded from the European Union official recognition of Russian armored vehicles invasion and Russian military attacks on strongholds of Ukrainian army on Ukrainian territory. Accordingly, Ukraine is ready to provide documentary evidence of Russian aggression. Mr. Van Rompuy reassured, that Ukrainian question will be included to the agenda of the session of the European Council to be held on July 16.
Kyiv
- Another Civil Council (Viche) conducted this day on the Maidan, decided to stay on strike, despite threats of forced dispersal voiced by Prosecutor General Mr. Yarema. Khreschatyk should becom pedestrian area and barricades to remain as reminder for future generations. Maidan also demanded from President Mr. Poroshenko immediate ratification of the association agreement with EU.
Maidan Centurions accused the government of using lumpen elements for provocations and to discredit the civil protest movement. Minister of Interior Affairs Mr. Avakov claimed live on TV channel 1+1, that the ministry possess complete dossiers on those hosted on Maidan and engaged in illegal activities.
War in Ukraine
- Hundreds of military units have been transferred by Russia during the day to Ukrainian territory through unguarded land border in the Lugansk region. Later have been partially destroyed by air strikes of Ukrainian aviation on the border, but some penetrated Ukrainian territory and reached Lugansk. Column of armored vehicles of that kind have been as well evidenced on the move to Donetsk.
- During the day, Ukrainian aviation made effective air strikes on terrorists strongholds in Luhansk region, Ukrainian military advanced closer to Lugansk at north and unblocked International Airport. Near Enakivo in Donetsk region, terrorists destroyed the road bridge by explosion.
- Nine civilians dead and six injured during the terrorists shelling of outskirts of Donetsk, as reported by the city council. Ukrainian sappers demine residential buildings in Slovyansk, equipped with remote-controlled explosives by terrorists.
International
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine answered to the accusation from Russian Federation on shelling of the Donetsk town in Rostov region, the Ukrainian army never shelled territory of Russia, as well as protested against Russian military units invasion through border checkpoint Izvarino, closed by Ukraine, but the seized by terrorists, and called on the Russian side to immediately stop provocations.
- Vice-Speaker of the Russia Federation Duma Mr. Bushmin said in connection with this provocation that Russia should use фвмфтсув weapons to destroy artillery on Ukrainian territory.
- World Football Cup in Brazil had finished. Germany defeated Argentina in the extra time of the final match, scoring 1-0.
